Adele – Rolling in the Deep (Jamie XX Remix)

Adele – Rolling in the Deep (Jamie XX Remix)

I say better late than never on this track. Jamie XX has taken Adele‘s “Rolling In The Deep” and flipped it and turned it inside out to create this floor stamper of a song. For some reason; the altering that Jamie did to Adele’s voice was completely unexpected compared to other remixes. But what was more unexpected was how amazing it was and how it instantly grows on you. Check out the remix above.

My favorite Los Angeles-duo Classixx (aka Tyler Blake and Michael David) finally released their new amazing single, “Into the Valley”, featuring the soulful vocals of Brooklyn gospel singer, Karl Dixon. The best start to your weekend possible! Enjoy

Sit back, close your eyes, and groove.

Alex Winston – Sister Wife (Starslinger Remix)

Alex Winston – Sister Wife (Starslinger Remix)

Detroit-born Alex Winston’s debut release, The Basement Covers EP, caught the attention of pretty much every record exec in the world. Her unique interpretations of tracks from the likes of The Rolling Stones and Mumford & Sons implied an inventive talent with the musical acumen to win over critics and the pop sensibilities to charm the record-buying public. Most intriguing though was her voice, an otherworldly mix of cutesy, girlish warbling and siren-like wailing, which bore more than a passing resemblance to one Joanna Newsom. The only question mark hanging over Winston’s head was whether or not her self-penned tunes would cut the mustard as well as her highly entertaining covers. Sister Wife, our first proper introduction to Winston as a songwriter, offers a ‘yes’ in response.

KING CHARLES – LOVE LUST

King Charles – Love Lust

This guy’s music is just soaked with the wisdom of love. Within the first ten seconds of King Charles’ “Love Lust”, it was stuck in my head. To be honest, I’d never even heard of him until now, but he’s definitely a musical gem to be found. Not much can really be ascertained about the electro-rock wonder with the exception that he appeared one day in the East London music scene, and that he’s been well received at his few live appearances in the UK. Definitely be on the lookout for King Charles to blow up because his music, like love, will set your soul on fire…

Florence & the Machine – The Dog Days are Over

Florence and The Machine – The Dog Days are Over

To the person I knew who used to hide under beds, this one is for you. Well done. Im proud.

Happiness, hit her like a train on a track
Coming towards her, stuck still no turning back
She hid around corners and she hid under beds
She killed it with kisses and from it she fled
With every bubble she sank with a drink
And washed it away down the kitchen sink

The dog days are over
The dog days are done

Yacht – Psychic City Classixx Remix

Yacht - www.mixitdj.co.nz
Yacht – Psychic City Classixx Remix

Psychic City is the latest single from the DFA duo YACHT – and it’s very good. We already showed love for their religious video and got excited when we heard the Classixx’s remix of the track on that mixtape, and now we’re more than happy to finally be able to share the track with you.

Psychic City remixed by Classixx is a four minute long climatic minimal disco version that goes really well with a mojito, hardly any clothing and a sunny beach. I’m a sucker for the classily tropical sound of the disco bass lines. No need to say that Classixx are becoming one of the most respected producers of the year, their discography will speaks for itself.

Aloe Blacc – I Need A Dollar

Aloe Blacc – I Need A Dollar

“I Need A Dollar” is one of those songs that seems to appeal to everyone. The vocals laid down by Aloe are timeless and have fooled many into thinking this is an old sample being flipped with a modern twist. Enjoy.

Gil Scot Heron & Jamie XX

Gil Scott-Heron – I’ll Take Care of You (Jamie XX Remix)

I know you’ve been hurt by someone else
I can tell by the way you carry yourself
But if you let me, here’s what I’ll do
I’ll take care of you

I’ve loved and I lost the same as you
So you see I know just what you’ve been through
And if you let me, here’s what I’ll do
I’ll take care of you

You won’t ever have to worry
You won’t ever have to whine
For I’ll be there beside you
To dry your weeping eye

So darling tell me that you’ll be true
There’s no doubt in my mind, I know what I want to do
And then just as sure as one and one is two
I know I’ll take care of you

I’ll take care of you
I’ll take care of you
I’ll take care of you

Jaime XX provides another astonishing remix for his collaboration with Gil Scott-Heron off the upcoming release We’re New Here. ‘I’ll Take Care Of You’ drives off with an LCD Soundsystem-esque beat surrounding Heron’s gruff vocals. Mid-song brings us to a beautiful guitar line which seems echo the emotion of Heron’s words “You won’t ever have to worry, you won’t ever have to hide, I’ll be there beside you, to dry your big red eyes.” Dance music that is beautiful and smart, I like that.

EDWARD SHARPE & THE MAGNETIC ZEROS – HOME

Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zero’s – Home

This was definitely the song of the year for 2010. The lyrics are pure joy. Listening to this will enrich your life! Enjoy.

Mayer Hawthorne – Green Eyed Love (Classixx Remix)

Mayer Hawthorne- Green Eyed Love ( Classixx Remix)

Green eyed love is an insanely melodic track with some of the most well put together lyrics I have heard in a while!

“My love, my green eyed love
You know when push comes to shove
I need you, you’re in my blood…

They say they say they say
You’re no good for me
That’s a lie
They say they say they say
They say they say they say
You’re no good for me
That’s a lie”

This mellow chilled out tune reminds me of lazy summer Sundays and of waking up next to someone and being happy. Life is good people. Today is special. Enjoy this track as much as I do.

Coco Summer – I Blame Coco

I Blame Coco – Self Machine

Coco Summer is not only hot, she is also incredibly talented. Here music carries an eerie teenage sadness along with a voice and lyrically maturity beyond her 20 years. She also happens to be Stings daughter and her sound is heavily crafted by a bunch of Swedish legends responsible for some of the world’s most beloved artists. I’m posting “Self Machine”. Let it rock, you won’t be disappointed. Enjoy

FLIGHT FACILITIES – CRAVE YOU

Flight Facilities are a duo from Australia who are blowing up with only one single to their name. Crave You sounds like the product of a Daft Punk and Yacht studio session. This song is fantastic and I can’t get enough of it. It’s Tuesday which means tomorrow is Wednesday so cheer up and throw this on in the background, you can expect at least a 64% improvement in your current situation, enjoy.
